Ear plugs should be worn when working in noisy environments for a prolonged period of time, typically factories etc.
Typical noise sources are; aircraft jet engine - 140dB, Gunshot - 130dB, chainsaw - 120dB, nail gun or rock drilling - 110dB, vacuum cleaner 80dB.
SNR (Single Number Rating) is the rating system determined according to International Standard ISO4869. SNR's are expressed in decibels (dB) and are used as a guide for comparing noise reduction capability. generally the higher the SNR number the better performance the ear defenders give.
In addition to the SNR value you should consider the H, M and L values, H- High Frequencies, M - Medium Frequencies and L - Low frequencies, the value is the number of decibels that the ear defenders will block.
